Celebration of Life Ceremony for Judge Willie J. Lovett, Jr. & Memorial Scholarship
It is with great sadness and deep regret that we inform you of the passing of Judge Willie J. Lovett, Jr. Judge Lovett passed away Monday, January 30, 2017. He was a colleague and friend to many in the Fulton County community.
Judge Lovett was appointed to the Fulton County Juvenile Court bench in May 2013 and was instrumental in implementing evidence based programs for Fulton County’s children.
Lovett served in various positions within the Fulton County Court system. He was appointed to the position of Director of the Office of the Child Attorney in 2009, where he worked to ensure Fulton County was in compliance with the Kenny A. v. Perdue `consent decree.
He also served as the Deputy County Attorney for the Fulton County Attorney’s Office. Prior to joining the County Attorney’s Office, Judge Lovett clerked for Joseph W. Hatchett, former Chief Judge of the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, served as an assistant city attorney for the City of Atlanta, and worked as an associate in several private law firms.
In addition to his legal background, litigation experience, and strong interest in child advocacy, Judge Lovett received his undergraduate degree from Yale University before earning his Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School in 1988 and his Master of Laws in Litigation from Emory Law School.
Judge Lovett’s Celebration of Life was be held Friday, February 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Impact Church 2323 Sylvan Road, East Point, GA 30344.
